RACE FORMAT

All races will follow the same format. This years format includes passing points in the heat races only. The drivers will draw a pill at the drivers meeting and sign in. The pill draw will line up the heat races. The first group of lowest numbers will be heat 1. The second group of lowest numbers will be heat 2 and etc. Example: pill numbers 1-10=heat 1, pill numbers 11-20=heat 2. This all depends on the car count for that night and what the lowest order of lower pill numbers drawn.  This will be followed by track packing and hot laps. Heat races will be run first with no less than 5 cars and a maximum of 10 cars depending on total car count. Heat races will be 8-10 laps long. Finishing position of heats passing points, determines line up for main event. In the event there are any total points come up the same, the main event position for those cars will be as follows. The car that ran in the first heat will be put in front of the other car or cars. The car in the second heat will be put behind that car. If any cars come out of the same heat with total points the same, their finishing position in that heat race will determine their position in the Main. Dash for Pole will run next. The number of cars will depend on the number of heat races ran.  The highest 4-6 driver's in points will run the dash. Their finishing order (no points giving) will determine their starting position in the Main.    Main event will be the last race of the night. The car count will determine the number of green laps with 40 green laps maximum, with no fuel stops. In the event the car count is lower than would provide a good race for spectators at 40 laps, the promoter shall have the right to reduce the number of green flag laps. This reduction will be decided before the race is started and proper notification will be made to race teams and shall not be changed during the event.  The promoter will have the option of adding cars to the main event at his discretion.  DRIVER CHANGE BEFORE HEAT RACE MUST BE APPROVED BY WDRA OFFICIALS.  ONLY ONE (1) CAR REGISTERED PER RACE NIGHT

During the Drivers meeting the official will indicate how many of the cars of each event shall be weighed and what events apply. These cars are required to proceed directly to the scales after the event. Cars going to their pits or anywhere except scale area are subject to loss of that events position. Cars intentionally attempting to add weight by mudding or otherwise prior to scales are subject to mud removal at the scales prior to being weighed.  After the main event, the winner of the event shall go directly to the scales and be the first car to weigh.  After this is done, then the driver shall go back to the front straight to accept their trophy.  Then the remaining cars needing to scale will be allowed to scale.  If for any reason your car is involved in a wreck or is somehow disabled at the end of the race and you finished within the positions required to weigh, you must find a way to go to the scales.  Cars violating these provisions are subject to loss of position for that event and disqualification.

During the race if a caution comes out, you do NOT race to the flag. The restart will be reverted to last completed green lap. If you stop on the track or go to pits during green flag running you cannot come back on track until yellow or red flag comes out. If you stop or go to pits on a yellow flag you have to start at rear of field unless an official requests you to stop. On a red flag absolutely no crew members, owners etc. allowed on track. If car leaves track on red flag, it must return before pace laps begin and must go to rear of pack. If requested by track officials, the total field of cars may go to the pits in a red flag, in this case the field will return in the order they leave. Any driver that is involved in two cautions either by spin outs or wrecks will be disqualified.

If your car becomes disabled or if for any other reason stopped do not get out of the car for any reason unless instructed by a track official to do so. If you go to the infield during a race you must stay in your car, with your helmet on, belted in, unless instructed by a track official otherwise. Any driver violating this provision is subject to a   $100.00 fine and/or disqualification.

Rough or over aggressive driving will not be tolerated, you will be sent to rear of pack or disqualified depending on violation. Un-sportsman like conduct by drivers, crew members and associate members will not be tolerated and can result in fines and suspension or both, depending upon the circumstances.  Driver is responsible for all crew members’ conduct.  DO NOT confront host track officials, Pit Stewards, Scorers, Flagmen in this matter, or for any other questions or complaints. All questions or complaints shall be forwarded to or through the WDRA official. Drivers or crewmen approaching people other than WDRA official are subject to disqualification and/or fines. No booze, No drugs, No fighting. First offense results in a $ 200.00 fine, and a one-race suspension.   Second offense results a $500.00 fine and a suspension for one year. This includes the use of alcohol or drugs during race day prior to a scheduled race. Indication of any usage of drugs or alcohol by any crew or driver will result in car associated not being allowed to participate in the event and if racing has begun, disqualification. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS RULE.

If there is disqualification of a car or individual(s) due to any of the aforementioned items there shall be NO reimbursement of any entry or membership fees. If a fine is imposed it may be levied against any winnings recorded for the event where the fine originated, or for any past or future WDRA events.

STARTS AND RESTARTS

The pace of the start of each race shall be set at a reasonable speed by the inside pole car, it is up to outside pole to keep pace.

NO cars are allowed to start or fire until they pass cone in corner four.  If the front row cannot start fairly in two attempts they both go to rear of pack.  If you hit cone or go under it you will go to back of pack. Cars “ forcing “ other cars below the cone will go to the back.

On restarts or single file starts the cone will be placed in corner four and all cars are to go around outside of it and cannot fire or pass until they have cleared it.  Also if they hit cone or go under they will go to rear.

For all starts and restarts no car shall intentionally slow down and speed up in order to create a “ spring “ effect.  Drivers attempting this will be put to the back.  The intent for all starts or restarts is a smooth tightly bunched group of cars.

Upon Payment of membership dues or payment of race entry, participants, members and associate members hereby accept these rules and conditions as stated herein. In addition, WDRA reserves the right to refuse entrance to any member, associate members, persons, owners, drivers, cars or other people attempting to gain entrance to a WDRA event for any reason whatsoever. WDRA is not responsible for accidents or injury. Host track will provide insurance.
